JPEG to JPG Converter
JPEG and JPG are the same image format with two spellings of the extension. When an upload form insists on .jpg, this tool saves your .jpeg file under the .jpg extension, byte for byte, without touching the image.

What changes when you convert JPEG to JPG
- .jpeg and .jpg are two extensions of the same JPEG format. A JPEG file is renamed, not re-encoded, so every pixel and all metadata stay identical; an image in another format is converted to JPEG.

Frequently asked questions
Answers about converting JPEG images to JPG with this free tool.
What is the difference between JPEG and JPG?
None in the image itself. Both names refer to the JPEG format; .jpg exists because early versions of Windows limited file extensions to three letters. A .jpeg file and a .jpg file can contain exactly the same data.
Does converting JPEG to JPG reduce quality?
Not with the rename option, which is on by default for JPEG files: the file gets the new extension in your browser, without being uploaded, decoded or compressed again, so every pixel and its metadata stay identical. Turn the option off only to re-encode at a chosen quality.
Can I just rename the file myself?
Yes. Changing .jpeg to .jpg in your file manager gives the same result, since the content does not change. This tool helps when renaming is awkward, for example when the system hides file extensions.
Is the JPEG to JPG converter free?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. It converts one image at a time, up to 10 MB and 25 megapixels, and adds no watermark. Images are processed for the conversion and are not stored permanently.
