Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about flipping and mirroring an image.
How do I flip an image online?
Upload the image, choose Flip horizontally, Flip vertically or both, check the live preview, then download the result. Photos taken with a phone are flipped as you see them: their orientation is applied first.
What is the difference between a mirror image and a flipped image?
A mirror image is a horizontal flip: left and right swap, as in a mirror, so text reads backwards. A vertical flip turns the image upside down. Choosing both directions gives the same result as rotating the image by 180°.
Is flipping the same as rotating?
No. Flipping reverses the image, while rotating turns it without reversing it, so text stays readable. To turn an image by 90°, 180° or any angle, use the image rotator.
Does flipping reduce quality?
Flipping moves the pixels without changing them. PNG and TIFF files stay lossless. JPEG, WebP and AVIF files are saved again at quality 90 by default; choose an output format to set another quality.
Which formats and file sizes are supported?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF and GIF images up to 10 MB. The result keeps the original format unless you choose another one. An animated GIF keeps only its first frame.
Are my images stored?
No. The image is sent to our server, flipped in memory for this request and returned to your browser; the tool does not save it. No account is needed.
