About TranslateMyImage

Short, factual answers about what TranslateMyImage is, how it works and who makes it.

What is TranslateMyImage?

TranslateMyImage is an online AI image translator: you upload an image, pick a target language and get the same image back with its text translated.

  • It translates into 45 target languages: 9 in the main translator, batch translation and API, and the others through dedicated language pages.
  • It accepts PNG, JPG and WebP images of up to 10 MB.
  • The free Basic plan includes 3 credits a month for personal use, and one credit translates one image.
  • Batch translation (up to 10 images per run) is included from the Pro plan, and the REST API from the Pro plan.
  • Commercial use of translated images requires the Pro plan or above.
  • The site also offers free image tools, such as an image converter, a compressor and a cropper.

How does it work?

A generative AI image model reads the text in your image, translates it and regenerates the whole image with the translated text, in a single pass.

  • There is no separate OCR, erase and retype pipeline: the same model reads, translates and redraws the text.
  • The model is instructed to keep the meaning of the text and to leave the layout, typography, colors and non-text elements of the original unchanged.
  • You can name the source language or let it be detected automatically, and a content type (marketing, manga and comics, technical documentation) adapts the translation style.
  • Each image goes through automated content filters before it is translated.
  • Results are generated, so they vary with image quality, fonts and complex layouts: review each image before you share or publish it.

Who makes TranslateMyImage?

TranslateMyImage is made by Louis Desclous, its founder and developer, as a small, independent SaaS run by humans.

  • It is not a large corporation and is not backed by millions of dollars in venture capital.
  • Its publisher is based in France, and the site is hosted by Hetzner Online in Germany.

What happens to my images?

Your image is shared with the image-processing and AI providers that produce the result, which receive only what their service needs, and your data is not sold.

  • Uploaded images and generated results may be deleted automatically, according to the retention period shown when you use the service.
  • Some providers may process data outside the European Union, under an adequacy decision, contractual safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism.
  • You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data by email.

When did TranslateMyImage start?

The earliest entry in the TranslateMyImage public changelog is dated December 23, 2025, and the changelog lists the user-facing changes shipped since then.
