SVG to PNG Converter
Many apps, social networks and upload forms cannot read vector files. Converting an SVG to PNG turns the drawing into a regular image, and the areas where nothing is drawn stay transparent.

What changes when you convert SVG to PNG
- The vector drawing becomes a PNG made of pixels. Its size is the width and height written in the SVG file, or its viewBox when it has none, so a small icon gives a small PNG.
- Transparent and semi-transparent areas stay as they are in the PNG.
SVG and PNG compared
SVG
A vector format: shapes, paths and text described in XML instead of pixels.
- Compression
- Not pixel-based, so the drawing scales to any size without blur.
- Transparency
- Transparent wherever nothing is drawn.
- Animation
- Possible with CSS or SMIL; a conversion renders one still image.
- Support
- All modern browsers and vector editors; many upload forms, marketplaces and social networks accept only bitmap images.
- Typical uses
- Logos, icons, illustrations and diagrams on websites.
PNG
A lossless format for graphics, screenshots and images with transparency.
- Compression
- Lossless: every pixel is kept exactly, so photos give large files.
- Transparency
- Full alpha channel, including semi-transparent edges and shadows.
- Animation
- None in standard PNG; this tool writes still images.
- Support
- Supported by every browser, operating system and image editor.
- Typical uses
- Screenshots, logos, icons, graphics with text, images that need transparency.

Frequently asked questions
Answers about converting SVG images to PNG with this free tool.
What size will the PNG be?
The PNG uses the width and height written in the SVG file. If the file has no width or height, the size of its viewBox is used. To get a larger PNG, increase the width and height in the SVG before converting: the drawing is rendered sharply at that size.
Is the background of the PNG transparent?
Yes. Areas where the SVG draws nothing stay transparent in the PNG. If the SVG contains a background shape, it is kept as drawn.
Are fonts and animations kept?
The PNG is a still image of the SVG. Text is rendered with the fonts installed on our server, so a font that is not embedded in the SVG can be replaced; converting text to paths in your editor avoids this. CSS and SMIL animations are not played.
Is the SVG to PNG converter free?
Yes, it is free and needs no account. It converts one image at a time, up to 10 MB and 25 megapixels, and adds no watermark. Images are processed for the conversion and are not stored permanently.
